The canine days of summer are upon us, and Sonoma County citizens are trying to beat the warmth by any means necessary. Nothing is better on a warm summertime day than a cold scoop of delicious ice cream. Americans have been indulging in ice cream since the reason that 1700s. According to the International Dairy Foods Association, the primary advertisement for ice cream appeared in the New York Gazette on May 12, 1777, while confectioner Philip Lenzi announced that ice cream became to be had “almost every day.”

Our earliest presidents were big enthusiasts of ice cream. George Washington allegedly spent $200 for the delicacy at some stage in the summer of 1790, and Thomas Jefferson had an 18-step recipe for a self-made ice cream dish similar to Baked Alaska. Sonoma County residents have been gobbling up ice cream for this reason since the 1800s. Ice cream parlors, trucks, and carts offered the summertime delicacy in towns all across the Redwood Empire.

You can use alternative sherbet or sorbet for the ice cream for a first-rate variation.

Let ice cream sit down on the counter awhile till it softens sufficiently, wherein you could unfold it effortlessly (do now not permit it to soften).

1 (16 oz.) container frozen whipped topping

1 (12 oz.) jar of chocolate hot fudge topping

1 (1.5 oz.) chocolate candy bar, grated

In a 9 x 13-inch baking dish, region half of the ice cream bars on the lowest of the dish, side via facet. Spread half of the chocolate fudge on the pinnacle of the ice cream bars. Spread half of-of the whipped topping on top of the fudge.

Place the closing ice cream bars on the first layer’s pinnacle and repeat with layers of chocolate fudge sauce and whipped topping. Sprinkle the grated chocolate on the pinnacle.
